It’s finally starting to get hot outside!
Many of us have been craving the warm sunshine air for months now, and with July right on our doorstep, it appears that our wish is coming true. Now that being outside is tolerable once again, we’ve got some fun ideas for you to incorporate more activity into your days this summer.
Check out our five cool ways to integrate movement below:
1) Water Balloon Fight
Who says you have to be a kid to enjoy a good old-fashioned water balloon fight? Gather your friends and family, fill as many balloons as you can manage and start talking strategy. Before you know it, you’ll be running around desperately trying to avoid being hit, all the while getting in tons of steps for the day. If your backyard isn’t suitable for a big enough fight, try out a local park and pack a picnic for after!
2) Join a Local Rec League
If you love sports but can never find enough people to play them with, a community recreational league is the perfect solution. You can sign up for a wide variety of activities, including ultimate frisbee, basketball, badminton and volleyball.
3) Get Moving at the Office
Sadly, for most of us, just because it’s summer that doesn’t mean that we don’t have to go to work. But that doesn’t mean we have to stop moving either! By incorporating active chairs and active stools moving at the office is easier than you think. Rather than enduring a sedentary summer at work, you can keep moving throughout your entire day.
4) Kayaking or Canoeing
Give your arms a workout that’s more exciting than boring weights – try kayaking or canoeing! There are lots of outdoor rental shops in the city that offer either kayaks or canoes for the day at a relatively inexpensive price. Do some research for rentals in your city and prime locations for rowing, like a nearby lake or river. Enjoy the sunshine while being out on the water!
5) Geocaching
If you like solving clues and seeking adventure, this is a great activity for you. People all over the world have hidden little treasures that are just waiting to be found. By creating an account with the Geocaching App, you can find tons of potential geocaches in your local area. So grab your phone and your running shoes and make a day of it! You’ll be walking around getting your exercise in while still exploring your city in an exciting way.
No matter what activities you choose to do this summer, remember to keep moving, enjoy the outdoors as much as possible, and of course have fun!
